(^^,)
before I start the review, I just wanna say thank you to everyone for your support in the previous entry..
but sadly, my friend didn't win the MPP election..
she's alright now, she accepts the result..
she's a tough girl, Venus..
but I gave her loads of bear hugs anyway!
(^^,)
PLEASE READ THIS POST..
very benificial for everyone..
----------------------------------------------
so, on to todays reason for my post..
as you may have known from the previous entry, I was an AJK member for the Business Talk with Tony Fernandes..
the title of the business talk was :-
Challenge Your Mind With Tony - The Sky Is Not The Limit
Change Management Through Entrepreneurship : The Air Asia Experience
venue :- EDC Hotel
date :- 13th October 2009
time :- 10am till 1.30pm
I was first in charge of registration..
loads of people came, 300 ++
full of foreign students too who are taking Masters..
guess their lecturers made them come..
one of them is my mum..
hehehe..
Dato' Seri arrived around 9.40am after touring the UUM campus..
we, the Sifers, escourted him all the way to the hotels cafe'..
while walking, he saw the button badge Waiyan was wearing and asked,
"what is S.I F. E.?"
"it stands for Students In Free Enterprise.."
and he so LOVES it!!
he even mentioned us in his talk to the whole hall full of 300++ people..
BANGGA SIOT JADIK SIFER!!!
XD XD XD
he's just so warm and friendly with everyone that I don't think he minds if everyone just calls him Tony..
really, memang serius gila, he's that modest..
some of the Sifers including me, got the privillage to take personal photos with him..
but it's in Ray Beh's DSLR..
will upload it later..
he even gave us his business card..
uwaaaa, haoleng ahh!!!
skali lagi, BANGGA SIOT JADIK SIFER!!
XD XD XD
everyone entered the hall for the talk around 10.20am..
now, this is what we're all waiting for..
he shared with us lots of things, with lots of eye openers, especially for me..
he's crazy la this Tony!!
CRAZILY BRILLIANT..
Dato' Seri Tony Fernandes in the middle..
he's just a simple n very modest man..
the talk was enjoyable by all..
he gave us his views on things such at Human Resourse Department..
he doesn't call it that, he calls it 'The People Department'..
it's because the staff is the most important asset in a company..
a company should really maximize the potential of everyone in its staff by allowing its people to be creative and think outside the box..
he's not the only one who gets a say in everything, he lets others think it up for him, which allows creative juices to flow..
and he's not the regular CEO that just sits in the office giving orders all day, he goes down to the same level as his employees..
he even shared his experience on how he became a bagboy for a day, taking on the Indonesia flight shift..
he's just so humourous in the way he presents it, that left the whole hall laughing at his jokes..
CEO of Air Asia..
he also touched on things concerning branding and marketing..
never cut back on it, because it is essential..
when others are cutting back on theirs due to recession, you should double yours!
kan aku dah cakap, dia nih gila!
normal thinking would say,
"why would you waste money on advertising during recession?.. membazir kau tahu??"
but he would say,
"others are cutting back, meaning the market is underserved.. it is an opportunity for the market to SEE our company, and choose it compared to others.. and when they are satisfied with our services, they'll inform everyone they know.. which means free marketing for us.."
kau paham tak?..
gila kan dia nih?..
thinking of things people normally miss..
pokok dahan akar dan daunnya,
YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SPOT OPPORTUNITIES WHEN OTHERS DON'T, EVEN IN PLACES UNHEARD OF
he also shared about giving others opportunity to shine..
he allows his employees to be creative and inovative..
that's way it was important for him to know his people, to know their true potential..
he promoted countless of his employees from positions such as Call Center Operator to Assistant Manager and also others..
he even has 32 FEMALE PILOTS flying his planes..
and one of them is Miss Thailand 2004..
perghh, beauty pagent winner bawak kapal terbang, so surreal kan?..
but it can happen, because it did..
his motto,
EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF YOU JUST BELIEVE..
sumpah, aku kagum gila dengan dia sekarang nih..
can't wait for him to come for SIFE UUM's project, MEALCON next year..
hehehe..
things to share, courtesy of Kak Ijah..
he also told us the reasons why Air Asia sponsored Manchester United and the American football team, Oakland Raiders..
it's all for Global Branding..
think about it, eventhough Air Asia doesn't fly to America, there's still loads of Americans who live in Asia..
by seeing Air Asia sponsoring the Oakland Raiders, it will instill in the minds of consumers that Air Asia is something big..
and even tho Tony doesn't like MU, he sponsored them for the publisity..
I mean, EVERYONE (not including me), watches football right?.. the name Air Asia was advertised everywhere during the EPL..
bangga kan jadi orang Malaysia?..
what Air Asia got back from sponsoring was really awesome..
the publisity, the brand positionning, the marketing, the feedback..
1 word, AWESOME..
but he did remind us of a few things..
DON"T TAKE UP THINGS YOU CAN NOT DELIVER
what's the point of taking up a project where you know you can't perform or give your best, right?..
EVERYONE IN YOUR COMPANY IS A BRAND AMBESSEDOR, NOT JUST THE CEO
there's no use saying you won't do certain things when your employees does it and spoils your brand, isn't it?..
TRAINING IS CRITICAL, INVEST IN IT
consumers will judge on how your service level are to judge the whole company, therefore the company must send its employees to get the best training there is in order to give the best service..
the satisfied the customer, the more people he/she will tell, isn't it?..
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
don't listen to conventional thinking, it'll never expend the company..
me working as SIFE UUM photographer..
played with Sony DSLR weih, gila best!!
the pictures are with Ray Beh, so I'll upload them later k..
the talk ended with a 45 minute-question-and-answer session..
everyone wanted to talk to him, sampai berebut mike..
a guy asked if he could have the cap (note : red Air Asia cap on Tony's head that's now missing) and Tony said, YES!!
sumpah aku jeles gila!!
haishhhh~~~
he even signed the cap..
he said,
"You will never know or get anything is you don't ask.."
rezeki mamat tuh siot..
kalau aku mintak tiket pegi dan balik ke Australia ntah2 boleh dapat pa?..
(^^,)
all pictures credited to Kak Ijah..
the crowd of people who wanted to take pictures with Tony..
with my other sis, Intan..
fuzzy me at work..

comel kan kami?..
(^^,)
I got home around 2pm and just remembered that I haven't taken a full picture of myself..
gemuk sket, aku tahu.. (-_-"
grey..
huhuhu~~
there's more of what he shared with us, but I forgot some..
I'll edit this entry when I remember them..
but these are the essential things I wanted to share with you..
I hope you benefited from it, if not much, little..
